Nigel Dowson has been a popular figure in the hairdressing business for more than 30 years.
He learned his trade with SAKS in the early 1980s before going into business on his own, first as a mobile hairdresser and then by establishing Jigsaw Hair in Gladstone Street, Darlington, 25 years ago.

Jigsaw got its name because Nigel likes to talk and advise people on their hair, he also likes to listen. "We thought long and hard about what to call it. We wanted something timeless" - he says. "Pictures and colour swatches can be used to bring a style together just like a jigsaw is brought together. Also, the first definition of jigsaw in the dictionary is 'a tool for fine cutting'!"

The salon is fully air conditioned to make it toasty warm in winter and cool in the summer.
